Synopsis
All Keegan wanted was a roommate who was quiet, minded their own business, and paid for part of the rent. Instead, she got Camden Brooks.
Camden, with his sinful body, sharp tongue, and the inability to stay out of Keegan’s personal business, couldn’t seem to curb his interest in the new girl who wouldn’t put up with his domineering ways.
Feelings were running rampant, sexual tension was thick, and both were struggling to let go of control.
To some people, getting a roommate simply meant living with another person. But to both Camden and Keegan it was a curveball that neither was prepared to swing at.
Excerpt

Standing up I began pacing. This was going too far. I could handle nice gestures, but coming into my room, and giving me things that I didn’t ask for was taking it too far. I wanted it out. I wanted it all out.
Now!
Marching downstairs, I was a girl on a mission. When I reached the bottom step, Camden turned around to look at me. Sure enough, there was that smug, satisfied little grin. I bet he was expecting a thank you for his diluted sense of generosity. Oh boy, was he in for a treat. I smiled back at him, but I had a feeling it didn’t look quite right. I was certain I had a crazed look in my eyes, and at this point, I didn’t care. My crazy was about to be hanging out all over the place. Now where in the hell was what it? My eyes drifted to the corner of the dining room. Up against the wall was the Louisville Slugger, just what I was looking for. I casually walked over to it and picked it up. I knew Camden’s eyes were tracking me. The grin on his mouth had slipped and now he just looked confused. I held the bat in my hand, testing its weight and deciphering my next move.
“What are you doing?” Cam asked.
I looked up at him, sending daggers at him through my eyes. “Practicing my swing.”
His confusion deepened. When I saw his eyebrows raise, I knew realization hit him. “Now Keegan, don’t go doing something you’re going to regret.”
The laugh that came from my mouth was pure evil. It sounded bizarre, even to me. “Oh Camden, I’m not going to regret this. I’m going to enjoy it very much.” With that I turned on my heels raced up the stairs. But not before heard him say “shit” and hurdle the couch coming after me.
I made it up to my room before he did. I took a brief moment to breathe in through my nose and back out through my mouth. I was centering myself for my grand swing. Standing before the beautiful bed he had no business buying me, I brought the bat up high and was about to bring it down as hard as I could, when it stopped mid air. Twisting my head around, I locked eyes with wild deep brown ones.
“Don’t you dare.” He growled, inches from my face.

Title: With This Heart

Release Date: March 27, 2014
Genre: New Adult Romance
add-to-goodreads-button31
Synopsis
If someone had told me a year ago that I was about to fall in love, go on an epic road trip, ride a Triceratops, sing on a bar, and lose my virginity, I would have assumed they were on drugs. Well, that is, until I met Beckham. Beck was mostly to blame for my recklessness. Gorgeous, clever, undeniably charming Beck barreled into my life as if it were his mission to make sure I never took living for granted. He showed me that there were no boundaries, rules were for the spineless, and a kiss was supposed to happen when I least expected. Beck was the plot twist that took me by surprise. Two months before I met him, death was knocking at my door. I’d all but given up my last scrap of hope when suddenly, I was given a second chance at life. This time around, I wasn’t going to let it slip through my fingers. We set out on a road trip with nothing to lose and no guarantees of tomorrow. Our road trip was about young, reckless love. The kind of love that burns bright. The kind of love that no road-map could bring me back from. **Recommended for ages 17+ due to language and sexual situations.**

Excerpt
"I grabbed my first bag and opened my front door to find Beck standing a few feet outside. I took in his messy brown hair, white t-shirt, and dark jeans. Why did a white t-shirt look so good on him? Maybe because it was fitted enough to show off his toned body without being obnoxiously tight? I wasn’t quite sure.
He didn’t say anything at first. His hazel eyes scanned down my body, lingering a moment longer on my bare legs, and then he looked back up at me with a wide, perfectly straight smile.
“Is that all you’re bringing?” he asked, pointing at the smallest of my three bags.
“Hah! Yeah right, I have like ten times more stuff.”
He shook his head and narrowed his eyes on me playfully. “I like a girl with baggage, Abby Mae. Keeps things interesting.”
His comment was too much; it stripped away my normal sarcastic responses. I was left with nothing but the bag in my hand, so I tossed it at him. He had to think fast and catch it before it fell to the ground at his feet.
“Good. Help me load it up then,” I smirked, and then turned to collect the rest of my stuff.
“Don’t forget to go to the bathroom! We aren’t stopping until we’re out of hell!” he called behind me.
“You mean Dallas?” I asked over my shoulder.
“Exactly!”
******
I was sitting in the passenger seat in Beck’s old, yellow VW Camper. It had been renovated recently, so the inside was all new leather, but it still had a lot of the classic details.
Our stuff fit easily in the back and he wasn’t kidding about there being space to sleep. We’d have to be really close, but there was definitely room. My face reddened at the thought.
I wedged the urn between my feet so that it wouldn’t tip over, and then buckled my seat belt. When I looked up, Beck was watching me with a bemused smile. My hand instinctively slid over my side braid and my face. I didn’t feel anything out of the ordinary.
“What?” I asked.
He shook his head, but his grin never faltered. “Nothing. Just trying to remember this moment.”
I furrowed my brows in wonder and tilted my head. The sun shone through the windshield of the Camper, highlighting the green details in his eyes. Beck wasn’t movie-star good-looking; he was boy-next-door good-looking— the kind of guy that might not know the full extent of his effect on the female population.
“Why?” I asked.
“Because our lives will never be the same.”
A small dimple formed on the corner of his mouth before he turned toward the steering wheel and pulled out of my apartment complex.
That dimple was the first thing I told myself to remember about the road trip.
Just as we turned onto the entrance for the highway, I peered over at Beck. “Just so you know, my faith in humanity is dangling by a few threads. If you murder me, I’ll pretty much lose all hope.”
I couldn’t keep the hint of a smile from my lips.
He nodded. “And if you murder me?”
I shrugged. “That would just be a good plot twist.”

Review: Torn by Kim Karr

Synopsis:

Rock star River Wilde brought Dahlia London back from the brink of hopelessness with his unwavering love and devotion. But their entangled history is about to test the strength of their relationship
Dahlia was certain she had found true love and met her “Once in a Lifetime’ when she reconnected with River. But Dahlia’s world comes crashing down when someone from her past resurfaces, and all of River’s carefully hidden secrets are exposed.
River wants to show Dahlia that life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass—it’s about dancing in the rain. But how many times can one broken heart be mended?  Will River and Dahlia be able to stay together or will they be torn apart?
Review:

~by Ena

“Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.” – The Bible: 1 Corinthians
Torn was such a wonderful follow-up to Connected.  There was so much that was left hanging with Connected that I couldn’t wait to dive into Torn and find out everything that brought my little happy ending I had running through my head for Dahlia and River crashing down around me.  Kim totally surpassed Connected with Torn – I think it went above and beyond.  I loved Connected (5 star for me) but if there was a way to take the rating scale for books and make a 6 star book for those few special books that WOW us and will stay with us forever than Torn is that book.  I was shocked and in awe that someone could write the words and story that Kim but on paper!
I fell in love with River Wilde during Connected and my love for that man not on continued but grew in Torn; he filled my heart with so much happiness and made it swell to triple its size.  River is the type of man you want to bring home to meet your family and a man you want to snuggle up to and hold onto every night for the rest of your life.  He is kind, sweet, passionate, protective, sexy, and successful, full of life, and will go out of his way to make sure the woman he loves has a smile on her face.
“I’m not stopping.  I’m going to leave you breathless, unable to think of anything but me,” I growl.
Dahlia’s world was turned upside down in Torn when she thought the life that she once had, the life she moved on from, the life she thought was buried finds itself back in front of her in the blink of an eye.  So much confusion runs through her that she isn’t even sure it’s real.  She starts questioning everything – and I didn’t blame her.  My heart ached for her because I could only imagine what was running through her head when everything you thought you knew and everything you thought had happened was a lie.  Now is the time for Dahlia to be stronger than ever and I felt like she struggled sometimes but that was understandable.  Her struggles during this book really made her a strong character because she came out the other side in one piece.
The struggles that River and Dahlia had to go through in Torn was heart wrenching for me and seeing a beautiful couple struggle to make it day in and day out made it more real for me.
“River, I was mad and….” I start to explain but stop.  He won’t even look at me and I know I need to get his attention before we continue talking.
“You can’t finish your thoughts.  You could earlier.  Should I help you? You’re mad at me for not telling you, but I’m not going to apologize for that Dahlia.  I had my reasons.  But the next time you decide to slap me after meeting with your ex fiancé, maybe you could at least stick around to listen to what I have to say.”
It seemed like every time things started to look up and settle down something else happened to cause wedge between River and Dahlia.  At one point I was almost scared that they weren’t strong enough to through it together on the other side.  Life was throwing them curve ball after curve ball and at one point they were so tired they didn’t know what they could do to fix the situation.
“You were wrong River, we are in pieces.”
River broke my heart in Torn and I hated seeing him go through what he went through.  He had always been a strong and self assured character but you will learn about his vulnerable side in Torn.  You will connect with him on a deeper level and will find yourself wanting to sooth the ache that he has in his heart.  I can honestly say without a shadow of a doubt after reading Torn River Wilde is now my number 1 book boyfriend.  I am sure he will leave an impression on your heart the way he did mine and you will find yourself swooning even more for him.
“I love you Dahlia, I love every single thing about you.  You’re perfect, really.”

I was pulled into Torn because of the way Kim makes you connect to the characters and how easy her characters are to fall in love with.  She had me on the edge of my seat hoping and praying that everything would work out in the end and at times I wasn’t so sure myself.  With every obstacle that they conquered, there was a new one waiting on them and for them to survive they were going to have to trust each other and love each with every ounce of their being.  Hearts can be broken and lives can be turned upside down and its how we take in a new situation and how we choose to deal with it and move past it.  River and Dahlia always had a beautiful and strong love but life was testing them.  Can they fight together side by side for their love or will life’s or will their past prove to strong and with they find themselves Torn?

BOOK SUMMARY:

Northern was supposed to be a fresh start—a place where people didn’t know who I was or how I had spent years in and out of mental institutes. People didn't know about my parents death or the island no one heard of. But when Peter sits next to me in lit class, I can’t stop the memories, and I don’t want to. He looks too much like the boy from the island, and despite my best intentions, coaxes my secrets from me.

He’s gorgeous, irresistible, a little mad, and completely lost—we are a pair of broken cogs in a world neither of us truly fits into. And he listens when I talk, about the past and the terrifying future. He is somehow gentle and fierce, heartbreaking in his devotion and savage in his defense.

When Belle, his best friend, shows up, pale and lovely and sick, Peter pulls away from me, a startling withdrawal. It’s a relationship that scares and confuses me. She is at times warm and friendly, and other times is violent and unpredictable.

Peter says that he wants me, but refuses to let himself get close. And there are secrets, surrounding both of us, that border on nightmares. As the memories close in, as Belle gets sicker and more violent, I’m torn between what is true and what I believe, and what this magical boy knows about my mysterious past.
*Suitable for 17+. A romantic contemporary retelling of the boy who never grew up.

GIRL LOST BY NAZAREA ANDREWS

Excerpt:
I shrug. "Because I can't help but trust you. Even though it's stupid and I have no good reason for it--I want to trust you. I want you to be someone I can trust." I open my mouth, to tell him about the boy, about why it is so important to me. Why I should stay away from him, and why I can't seem to.
Peter speaks first. "I don't know who your father is. I don't know why you want to run from your past. But the thing is, Gwen, I don't care. I want to be part of now. I'll fight tooth and nail to be part of now."
"What if now is temporary?" I ask, thinking about my aunt and my tenuous grasp on sanity and all the reasons I should step away from Peter.
"Then we enjoy what we have," he murmurs. I shudder as his voice wraps around me, as warm as the hand curving around my neck. He makes a low noise, and lifts me, until I'm sitting in the circle of his crossed legs. Pressed against him. I can feel his heartbeat through his shirt, the unsteady pounding. His fingers are still pressed against my hips, still holding onto me despite having me where he wants.
I should move back, put distance between us, so he knows that this isn’t ok. I sit still and silent in his arms and wait for the chiding voice, telling me it’s wrong.
The voice that has drown out every thought and feeling, every time a boy has touched me.
But it’s silent, oddly absent—maybe it is as charmed by Peter’s appearance as I am.
“What is Lane, to you?” he asks, breaking my thoughts.
I shrug, looking at the pulse point pounding in his throat. “A friend.”
“I don’t want you near him.” He says.
There is a part of me, slight but there, that is annoyed by his pronouncement. But the bigger part is smirking, leaning in so that my lips tickle along his neck. Peter goes very still, as I whisper, a hairs breath from his skin, “Are you jealous?”
His voice is low, gravelly, “Yes. Fuck, yes I am. I don’t want any man near you—I hate Micah for being your brother. I want you with me, always.”
His voice is so fierce, wild. It’s a savagery that is at odds with the soft circle of his arms, the gentle press of his fingers on my back.
That is all tenderness and fragile care.
