Blog Tour: Rotten by JL Brooks

Growing up on the outskirts of Las Vegas as the daughter of notorious strip club owner, Stephen Knox, and a mother who abandoned her at birth, life was less than kind to a young Antoinette.

After a failed teenage suicide attempt, Toni hit the road in search of a life free of undeserved cruelty and any resemblance to her past.

Years later, Toni is lost in a dead end marriage and makes a painful confession that sends her back to the one place she always wanted to escape. But can she really right the wrongs that haunt her? Toni soon finds that the only place where things stay the same is in your mind.

When her path crosses with David Stark, childhood playmate turned one night stand, she cannot deny the spike in temperature she feels every time he's near or the scorching dreams that flood her at night.

Digging through the years of heartache, Toni soon finds herself torn between the man she is committed to and the one who has always held her heart. As each layer unfolds before her, she discovers the root cause of her pain. Always believing the source was external, nothing could prepare her for the truth.

(Excerpt 1)
Taking my index finger and placing it in my mouth, I slowly licked the top and sides before running my hand across my stomach and into my panties without breaking eye contact. Rolling my head back, I closed my eyes. “Get out.”
“Uh, uh, no way.” He stood motionless as he leaned against the dresser, his eyes fixed on the hand between my legs.
Giving an indignant sigh, I removed my hand and walked over to him. Running the index finger across my lips, inhaling the heady scent, I smiled lazily as his breathing increased. Without a word, I dipped my finger into his coffee mug and swirled it around a few times before giving it a shake and licking off the excess.
Batting my eyelashes, I smiled innocently. “I noticed yesterday you were low on sugar. You’re welcome.”

(Excerpt 2)
“You are trashed right now, aren’t you?” David couldn’t hold back the laughter as I swayed side to side slowly.
I shook my head back and forth, then up and down. “Yesshhhh…
Erin leaned in and told David, “You better watch out, she’s talking about strippers and salvation. Next thing you know, she’s going to get a Bible out and start baptizing people at the bar.”
“Fuck you, Erin, you’re just mad because you want David to christen your head with his baby batter.”
They both looked at me in absolute shock, so I stole the opportunity to slug another shot.
“Yeah, I said it. Let me up – there’s an empty pole and a morning full of regret with my name on it.”

(Excerpt 3)
As I cracked the old bathroom door open, steam rushed out in vapor clouds before me. David looked up as I approached him in nothing but a towel. Still not saying anything, I used my ankle to kick his knees apart. He looked at me oddly until the towel dropped to the floor in a large heap of cotton. Crawling up onto his lap, I used the palm of my hand to push his forehead back into the fabric of the sofa and pressed my naked body into his chest.
“Are you going to run away again?” I whispered.
His hands tentatively caressed the damp skin on the back of my thighs while licking his lips. “No ma’am.”

(Excerpt 4)
David’s lips were soft and voluptuous; I dared to say they were beautiful. There was no part of him that was not absolute perfection, including his cock. He had not even touched me there, yet, taking his time working me into a frenzy. He knew how long I had waited, denied the most important of caresses. Forcing my hips up, he pulled away, knowing I wanted more, lifting up and laughing into my mouth. I both protested and begged through moans and whimpers. Gone was the cocky yet considerate boy who took my innocence; he had been replaced by a man with over a decade of experience and nowhere to be. I wanted to lick his skin, take him in, every part of him, but he wouldn't move. He liked kissing me – for the first time, not out of an angry circumstance, but at his own pace, free to do as he wished.

(Excerpt 5)
In my fantasizing, every inch of his solid body had been thoroughly licked and explored. He decimated me on average six times an hour. It couldn't be healthy to think about having sex this many times in a twenty-four hour period. My brain was on dopamine overload from being stimulated so frequently. The receptors in my nose noticed every pheromone his body exuded when he was near. I was certain my head was about to explode at any moment. Heaven forbid his pants dip any lower the next time he was working in the house shirtless and expose the deep curves into his groin, or that he raise his arms above his head to stretch, and every ripple of his latissimus muscles look like tan wings on an angel, spreading out in each direction.
I am seriously fucked.
