Tangled by Emma Chase
Shelly rates this book 5 stars!!!
Synopsis:
Drew Evans is a winner. Handsome and arrogant, he makes multimillion dollar business deals and seduces New York’s most beautiful women with just a smile. He has loyal friends and an indulgent family. So why has he been shuttered in his apartment for seven days, miserable and depressed?
He’ll tell you he has the flu.
But we all know that’s not really true.
Katherine Brooks is brilliant, beautiful and ambitious. She refuses to let anything - or anyone - derail her path to success. When Kate is hired as the new associate at Drew’s father’s investment banking firm, every aspect of the dashing playboy’s life is thrown into a tailspin. The professional competition she brings is unnerving, his attraction to her is distracting, his failure to entice her into his bed is exasperating.
Then, just when Drew is on the cusp of having everything he wants, his overblown confidence threatens to ruin it all. Will he be able untangle his feelings of lust and tenderness, frustration and fulfillment? Will he rise to the most important challenge of his life?
Can Drew Evans win at love?
Tangled is not your mother’s romance novel. It is an outrageous, passionate, witty narrative about a man who knows a lot about women…just not as much as he thinks he knows. As he tells his story, Drew learns the one thing he never wanted in life, is the only thing he can’t live without
Review:
This book was totally unexpected. It was written, COMPLETELY, from the male leads POV. It is so cool for Emma Chase to live outside the box, and tell a story from the man's mind! I couldn't put it down! I was hooked from page one.
It starts with the man, Drew Evans, sick at his house with the flu, or what he "says" is the flu. However, he is suffering from a broken heart. We then are rewarded with the story of how this came to be.
Drew is a lady's man, a true one night stand, player. He doesn't do relationships and he'll never do LOVE!!! He mets a woman at a club, and is immediately smitten. He tries all his moves, but nothing seems to work. Reason why, she's engaged!! Not like that stops his thoughts about bedding her though.
THe next day, he can't seem to get the girl outta his mind, until he meets his new business partner, Katherine (Kate) Brooks. The girl occupying his mind...the girl he met at the bar. This turns Drew's life upside down. He never mixes business with pleasure, but Kate has him rethinking a lot about his life.
They start as sexual prospects, to colleagues, to business enemies, to friends, and then lovers. Drew starts doing and thinking things that he can't understand. He never thought that he would ever love anyone, until BAM! Love hit him like a brick!! And then his immaturity and stupidity lost that love as soon as he found it!
Will he get it back?? Will he survive this flu??? Pick up Tangled, and find out for yourself!! ~Shelly
